Harry Bodine

Harry's interest in music increased after he dropped out of high school from his hometown in central New York State. He got hooked on the blues when his older brother Howard taught him the Blind Lemon Jefferson song, “Easy Rider Blues.”
At seventeen, Harry hitchhiked across the U.S. with his guitar and was exposed to a variety of music and musicians. He learned finger picking from a banjo player, country gospel from truck drivers and blues tunes from street musicians. He started his professional career playing in blues, R&B, and rock bands around Ithaca, N.Y. After a few years, he got the itch to hit the road again and headed to Austin, TX, where he has now lived for many years.
Harry has steadily gained a strong reputation over the years for his songwriting skills and abilities as a slide guitarist. He spent five years as the principal songwriter and guitarist for the Austin based band, Delta Roux. The band has shared stages with the likes of Aaron Neville, Leon Russell, Delbert McClinton, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Rolling Stone (Germany) magazine music critic Jorg Gulden included Delta Roux's CD, “Bad Wind Blowin’” in his picks for the ten best releases of 2000.
Harry’s new CD, “Which Way Home” features a cross section of songs with Blues, Americana and New Orleans vibes.
