“Reel Truth: Everything You Didn't Know You Need to Know About Making an Independent Film” written by Reed Martin is a work years in the making. Martin, who has taught film finance and marketing at such institutions as NYU's Stern School of Business and Columbia Business School and who served as the marketing director at Cary Wood's Independent Pictures, painstakingly compiled the book from over 100 interviews conducted with such notable filmmakers as Danny Boyle, Darren Aronofsky, Werner Herzog, Christopher Nolan, Christine Vachon, Doug Liman and Kimberly Peirce.

In his chapter on securing music rights for an independent film, Martin refers readers to Baldillo Music as a source of great music at reasonable prices for independent filmmakers. “Rather than fighting for a well-known song from the original artist, I suggest indie filmmakers contact Austin's Baldillo Music” said Martin.
