Darin Layne

Darin received his B.M. from the University of North Texas in Jazz Studies and Music Theory and also attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has received the International Association of Jazz Educators Certificate of Outstanding Performance. He currently performs throughout the United States and Europe with the Darin Layne Trio/Quartet.

His new CD, "Left of Sunday Afternoon", is described as, "A beautiful collection of acoustic guitar instrumental music with Eastern hand percussion. Other featured instruments include violin, cello, cavaquinho (Brazilian mandolin-like instrument), melodica, and accordion. It's a creative blend of East and West."

Darin says, "The concept of West meets East is not new, but this is a unique, beautiful melodic project. Simplicity of melodic statements was key to making the project accessible, while introducing 'odd' time signatures like 5, 7 and 15 give a rhythmic uniqueness."
