FAQ
How do I contact Baldillo?
For creative matters, contact Willie Scoggins at wscoggins [at] baldillo [dot] com or (512) 470-3889. For licensing issues, you can contact Mark Grossman at mgrossman [at] baldillo [dot] com or (512) 495-9935. For marketing you can contact Chris Patin at cpatin[at]baldillo[dot]com. You do not need to be a registered user to reach us.
What are the registration requirements?
We ask that you complete the registration form telling us about yourself and that you have a legitimate business reason to access our music. Only industry professionals (music supervisors, music and sound editors, directors, producers, etc.) will be allowed to access the site. Quite frankly, there is no reason why anyone else would want to access it except to steal stuff and we won't tolerate that, no sir-ree, bob!
I like stealing music on the internet, can I steal a bunch of crap from your site?
First of all, we don't have crap on our website. Second, the artists in our catalog are there because we respect them and we know how hard they work and the sacrifices they make for the sake of their music. They have put their trust in us to protect their babies and we refuse to let a bunch of weasel bastards walk off with their property. We have high-tech, super secret, techno-geeky ways of figuring out who you are and what you are downloading, so don't try us! Stealing music is a federal crime, and we'll prosecute. We don't care how much you like their music. If you want it, buy it…and, by the way, we don't make anything when you buy their albums.
How do I license a recording?
If you find a track (or tracks) you like, feel free to download the recording from our website and temp it in to your project. If it works, give us a call and we'll discuss the details of your use, determine what final format you need and issue a license agreement. Don't worry, we're reasonable.
I used an Elton John song and now I can’t get the rights, what do I do?
If you need to replace a song you found elsewhere that you are unable to license or are otherwise operating under a deadline, please contact us ASAP. We have many solutions to this common problem, in fact too many to adequately list. You are not alone…
What if I don’t find what I need in the catalog, do you customize?
Yes, in fact we have access to award winning writers and producers who will work with you to create the perfect music for your project. Again, let us know in advance if you are under a deadline.
Are you dudes Music Supervisors?
Not really, our main goal is to advise you on your music selections for your project using material from our extensive catalog. We don’t hunt down licensing info about other material like a music supervisor. If you really need a music supervisor, we have access to many here in Austin that will be most helpful. Although all this might change if the price is right yumsayin’!
What formats are used to deliver the recordings?
When you listen on the website, you are listening to 128 bit/mp3 files. This quality should be adequate for your temp stage but you will need a higher quality format for your final edited version. Let us know and we’ll get it to you promptly. Please see "How do I license a recording" above.
I like 5 songs from different artists in the catalog, how do I save these?
Easy, just click on “add to favorites” at the bottom of each individual song page and they will show up in your “My Account” at the top right of any page when you sign in later.
I'm an Austin artist, how do I submit my material for inclusion in your bitchin’ catalog?
Short answer/request: please don't. There is a lot of great music here, but we don't accept unsolicited music so please don’t send your material. Why do we do it this way? Baldillo is about community. We don't ever want to get so big that we don't have a personal relationship built on mutual respect and trust with each of our artists. If you really, really, really believe that you've got something so undeniably bad ass that it should be in our catalog, ask around your music friends to make an introduction. We want to know you before we represent you and we want you to want us to know you before we represent you and we want you to want to know us before we represent you. Have we lost you yet? We don't care how many lawyers you've got, a contract isn't worth the paper its written on. What matters is the relationship. Everything else flows from that.
