About Baldillo
Recognizing the underutilized talent pool of great musicians, bands, writers, and producers here in Austin, Baldillo began as a way to make these artists more accessible to various media industries. This effort has resulted in a unique and diverse catalogue of music and compositions appropriate for any type of project.
We maintain personal relationships with every artist we represent, most going back many years. These relationships are the key to the unique family environment that we have established.
Baldillo is proud to be associated with these artists who have kindly entrusted us with their "babies".
Our mission statement
To bring together Austin's most creative and talented musicians, bands, writers, and producers and the media industry for the betterment of all.
We do this by:
- Acquiring authority to negotiate on our client's behalf as either agent or publisher;
- Building a quality catalog of material and a quality artist roster;
- Raising the profile of our clients and the Austin music community as a whole;
- Negotiating licenses that respect our clients and treat them fairly;
- Establishing and building long-term relationships with buyers by timely providing appropriate, quality material customized for their unique needs.
Unauthorized use of music samples will be dealt with in a most unpleasant way!
Who we are
Mark Grossman
Mark, a graduate of the University of Texas, escaped from the practice of law to handle the business of Baldillo. He has worked for an international law firm in Los Angeles, a boutique entertainment firm in New York and ran his own practice in Austin. Mark worked in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate securities offerings, entertainment, estate planning and probate before fashioning a handgun from a bar of soap and shoe polish and escaping into the night with a pillowcase full of the broken bits of his soul. He's doing much better now, thank you.
Willie Scoggins
Willie is originally from Ft. Worth, TX. Music has been a fundamental part of his life since starting piano lessons at 8 years old. He has been in the music business for many years, primarily as a guitarist, writer, and producer. After living in California and other parts of the world, he returned to Texas in 1994. In 2007, he switched hats and started Baldillo as a way to expose music from Austin area musicians (including his own) to the world of film and TV.
He has played, recorded or written songs with Percy Sledge, Archie Bell, Scott Henderson (Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea), Lisa Tingle, Rachel Loy, Coco Montoya (John Mayall), Steve Grove (Tower of Power), Van Wilks and Peer Astrom (Celine Dion, Cindy Lauper) to name a few…
Willie currently maintains a busy schedule playing guitar with the Austin R&B band, “Memphis Train Revue” and dropping names of famous musicians in his website bio.
